We're happy to now officially announce our next film, "Wounds of Sand." As the production process continues, check on the website as we add more photos and info. home.earthlink.net/~mandptowne/id31.htmlWe barely began filming last Friday, so it'll take some time before further updates are made.

So like the filming already started? I guess that's a screenshot there, and if it is it looks good, like really accurate to the time period.

Do you have any music in mind for this film?

Do you have any music in mind for this film? There are some, but I won't give away anything here and now. I'll only say that for the most part we'll be using but not limited to soundtracks that people probably won't be familiar with right off the bat. As for the music video, obviously that song won't be in the soundtrack since the lyrics are about D-day. However, the mood of the song does go well I admit and that's why I chose it as a kind of "appetizer." And of course the actual clips themselves from Saving Private Ryan are where a lot of inspiration is coming from for the battle scenes. For the soundtrack, more info will be released once editing and post-production starts. Then final music selections will be made.

I think didn't have like any FM stations back then though You're probably right, as I am no expert on these things, but I have a radio from 1949 (I believe) that I can actually pick up KLAQ with.

It does work, as actually it's from the 1990s. However, it's a replica of a 1932 model. The difference, as pointed out, is that the model we used can receive FM stations. So while we weren't filming, we were in fact listening to KLAQ (our local rock station).
FM wasn't patented until 1933. Though it was developed in the 1940s, it was used mostly for classical music, educational programs, and that sort of thing. It wasn't until the 1960s and 70s that FM gained popularity as teens sought out "alternative" music stations away from the "mainstream" AM stations. So while a radio from 1949 could pick up FM, it's unlikely that the average person back then would have listened to it.

Thats cool. I suppose it would be funny though if you found a guy in the 1940s listening to Metallica or something. Watch that be a blooper.

I was thinking something a la Back to the Future..."I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it."

Hey when you do your sound effects, try getting them from Medal of Honor and Call of Duty or something.

Hey when you do your sound effects, try getting them from Medal of Honor and Call of Duty or something. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter had some awesome grenade and pistol sounds. Dunno what else you might be able to get, but I think that for some sounds, you're not even limited to WW2 games.
