To those who recognize talent when they see it, tell me what you think of this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yfsF5pw6HoMy God this video is friggin' awesome, wish I could do that crap. He's playing the song "The Patient" by Tool, (one of my favorite bands by the way). This guy knows how to play most of their other songs too so he's been on my subscription list for quite a while now. Also, if you look closer you'll notice he has GRAW 2 on the tv behind him.

Either he has really good ears to know all the chords, or he's dedicated quite a lot of time to practicing from a book if he has a music book with the chords.

But he's done so much other stuff, it would take a long time for him to have learned it all from books. I think he just figured it out instinctively.

he's playing that all on his own? Awesome Not sure if he is, because the music started before he started playing.

Speaking of Tool, i recently attempted to smuggle them as a poet for my class, but turns out i needed one that had actually published poetry (not songs). At least the professor admitted he liked them and noted that much of what they write is "poetic and intelligent." Guess those kinds of courses arent as liberal as i thought.

That's badass dude, cause seriously their lyrics are just above and beyond most of the stuff I've heard out there. Plus there's somethingabout the technique that Maynard uses to sing that just makes it all work and come together. Would've been cool if your professor had accepted your work proposal.

Yeah, that sucks because lyrics are poetry in a sense. The artists just take it one step further and make songs out of them. That guy is pretty talented I admit. He's probably got a good ear for it so he can play the music as he hears the song. And even if he had music books, he would have to be pretty good to learn a new song as fast as he's putting them out on Youtube.

Funny, because I remember using John Lennon as a poet in a project once and my teacher counted him as a poet. But that was like a long time ago. I think I must have done that like in high school or something.

Yeah but then John Lennon has been dead for quite a while. Watch, 30 years or so from now they probably would accept Tool as a poet.
