On the subject of WWII era characters, I thought I should bring up the next installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures. It's supposed to take place in the 1950s (appropriate since the time frame would be realistic with Harrison Ford's age). Anyway, I'm anxious to hear more about the production, and for the film's release in May 2008! Filming commenced not that long ago. Here is a video I found that shows some video clips from the first day of shooting. www.indianajones.com/community/news/firstday.htmlAnd here is a new picture Dr Jones himself, 18 years older of course.

Well it looks like whatever is going on in the plot, the US army is now involved.

Yeah, I guess they'll be the ones to pull him out of retirement or something.

Looks like they're going to Area 51 or somewhere way out in the desert where maybe they have some secret army base.

But it looks like his students in the poodle skirts are trying to drag race him or something.

Yeah, those kids in the cliche 1950s attire. Who knows what that's about but why would they be drag racing an army car?

You're right, I doubt they'd be drag racing a government vehicle, but I'm having a hard time coming up with an alternative explanation why the two cars would be on both sides of the road. It could be that they're just passing them.

Well that's obvious that they're passing him if not racing. I know I suggested students earlier, but now I wonder if it's actually his students. Didn't he teach at some university back east? So why would students follow him into the desert? Whatever. The scene is probably not very significant anyway since they chose to release video of it so early.

I would have to agree with Lord Revan that the scene with the two cars probably won't have a lot of significance. I doubt Spielberg or Lucas would allow something incredibly major to be leaked out this fast. Also it was only the first day of filming, and most of the time directors like to start out with a trivial scene the first day to get people comfortable working with each other (its kind of like freshmen on the first day of school in a sense).
As MaxImusMan pointed out, the most we can deduce from the video is that the US military will have something to do with the plot.

There's blood on his pants. They must have done some action sequence.
