OK guys, I think most of us here were very impressed with "Legiones Redde." So impressed, that I think that this movie would have been an even better movie had it had the backing of Hollywood. Say Towne Films had all the money it needed to hire all the actors, editors, sound designers, etc. that it needed. Who would you like to see in this "Dream Team."
For example, I'll start.
Director: Peter Jackson Producer: (Towne Films) Varus: Tom Hanks Arminius: Orlando Bloom? Druid guy: Jonny Depp? Arminius' Girlfriend: idk, any blonde chic that looks hot will do lol Caesar: Anthony Hopkins Centurion dude: Adrien Broody
Visual Effects: WETA (since Jackson would be directing it)

Yet, there is a problem with placing Peter Jackson (or anybody else for that matter) as the director. Once you place someone else as the director. The whole movie changes. Scenes, lines, editing, etc. will be according to Jackson's view, not Towne's. The end result may be far different from what we would expect. For example, the battle sequence would be done differently, and maybe we won't have the "suspense" that we felt with the Towne Films version. The suicide scene may also be different, as perhaps Arminius may not even appear in that scene (thus loosing the dramatic impact). I think what you would want is Jackson to be the producer while Towne remains the director. I'm confident in Jackson's ability to direct, but I would much rather see the real creators of this film do the directing. Director: Towne Producer: Peter Jackson

Steven Spielberg or George Lucas for the producer, then they could use ILM for the effects.
Director - Robert Towne Producer - George Lucas (or Spielberg) Varus - Tom Hanks (hey, he can do anything) Arminius - Mel Gibson The Druid - Ewan McGregor Arminius' woman - (are you sure a blonde would be smart enough for this role?), Natalie Portman Caesar: Christopher Lee Centurion: idk

Mel Gibson is getting kind of old now, plus I think he said that he didn't want to do any acting anymore, and he wanted to stick with directing. I like the idea of Orlando Bloom as Arminius.
Director: Towne Producer: Peter Jackson Varus: Tom Hanks (I agree, he's the best actor there is out there, and he would have no problem with it) Arminius: Orlando Bloom The Druid: Ewan McGregor Arminius' Girlfriend: Julia Roberts Caesar: Sean Connery Centurion: (well, he's not really a major character, so I doubt a star would play him, but for this, I'll just put one down) Samuel L Jackson

Mr. Gibson has also turned out to be an anti-semite(much like his father, who calls the Holocaust a myth), which is completely unnacceptable in this day and age, so i wouldnt consider him for anything, hes lost my respect. What a hypocrite.
Anyway, my choice for director would be Peter Jackson if they would have to be living, but if ANY director of all-time could be chosen i would go with Stanley Kubrick. Kubrick coincidentally was interested in doing movies on LOTR but said the technology to make Middle-Earth wasnt quite there yet. The year he passed away is the year P. Jackson began his work on Fellowship of the Ring. I wouldnt doubt Kubrick, he was a genius for directing. And thats the beauty of directing, we all get to see each directors own vision of the story in question.
As for actors, it doesnt matter, Kubrick had a knack for bringing out the best in them. But even moreso, its Kubrick! What more could you want.

That would be so awesome if like Kubrick could have done this film. Unfortunatley, he's passed on and his talents would not be available. So the best choice now would be Peter Jackson imao.
As for Gibson, there are like so many reasons why he shouldn't be Arminius. First of all it would draw to much attention back to "Braveheart." Second of all, he's like too old (kudos to MC), and last but not least because of his anit-semetic comments (since he would be playing a german which like brings a comparision to the nazis). He's done like some good films, and the films themselves are alright, but like that whole comment thing when he got drunk, that just sets a bad example.
So since we don't have Kubrick anymore, we still have Peter Jackson. The only other directors or producers I think could do it are like Steven Speilberg (Indiana Jones, War of the Worlds) or Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down). ILM will always put out the best effects which like comes with Speilberg almost automatically since he and Lucas are buddies.
Some other names I'd just like to throw into this that haven't been mentioned yet. How about Harrison Ford, Richard Gere, and Leonardo Di Caprio

OK, sorry about that, I take back putting Gibson as Arminius. You think Leo could do it?

Harrison Ford as either Arminius or Varus.
And yeah, Kubrick would be the best!

Arminius, since I think Tom Hanks would be best as Varus. But if you can't get Tom Hanks in it, then Ford should be Varus
